In early 2005 Ruth put together a tribute show in honor of Nina Simone’s birthday performing at Dizzy's Jazz Club to a capacity crowd with the Mark Fitzgibbon trio. The incredible reception persuaded Ruth to make the performance into a show. Thus FABULOUS DIVA – THE MUSIC OF DR NINA SIMONE was born.

The show features prose – anecdotes, quotes, biographical history and gossip that tells the story of Nina Simone. The tribute channels the energy and style of Ms Simone rather than parroting the voice of the late diva.

Like Nina Simone herself Ruth’s approach to music is not always easy to pin down as it is so varied. Her velvet blue tone voice has been described as Sara Vaughn, Nina Simone and Sade. She sings in a style that is sometimes an emotional whisper to an industrial scream. She sings as herself.
